LABOUR DAY 2022 : ARSEL celebrates with the International community

Workers of the Electricity Sector Regulatory Agency joined their peers worldwide in celebrations marking the 136th edition of the International Labour Day on the 1st May, 2022. Through a lunch party gracefully offered by the General Manager, Mr. Jean Pascal Nkou, all the workers could be seen neatly dressed in the ARSEL fabric, in respect of the pattern chosen by the staff representatives. At the main entrance into the Agency, a banner with the message ‘At ARSEL, we respect the COVID 19 barrier measures for the safety of our staff and users of our services’ boldly reminded the workers and invited guests of the general theme for the celebration and the need to keep safe.

The Staff Representatives in their welcome speech praised the Management for all the efforts they make in ensuring the welfare of the personnel. Nonetheless, they couldn’t help but ask for more favours especially as concerns the reevaluation of end of career fees. The General Manager assured them they wouldn’t hesitate to do so, in as much as the regulations enforced and the financial situation of the Agency permits. He encouraged the staff to continue respecting the COVID 19 barrier measures, which serves as the best protection during this pandemic.

During the celebrations, Mr. Same Lucien Serge and Mr. Nouma Theophile who have been called to retirement were recognized for the services they rendered to the Agency. More so, it was an opportunity to pay special tributes to the first batch of Management Staff recruited at ARSEL in May 2002, who were celebrating their 20th year at the Agency. The Deputy General Manager, Mr. Honoré Demenou Tapamo joined the General Manager and the celebrating batch, in cutting the anniversary cake. The feasting drew into the early part of the evening with the members of staff expressing their talents in singing and dancing to various Cameroonian rhythms. It was a good feast.
