   Fraud and theft in the electricity sector are often invisible crimes committed by people illegally hooking up to the power supply system, tapping into a line that has been disconnected, or reprogramming a meter. to skew electricity consumption resulting in accurate bills.

In accordance with article 13 (1) of the regulations of the public electricity distribution service in Cameroon, all acts having the object or effect of taking electrical energy outside the quantities measured by the meter, to distort the indications of the meter as well as any rupture of sealing or sealing constitute fraud and give rise to an action for compensation by any legal means.

HOW CAN YOU RESPOND?

Immediately notify your electricity utility once you become aware of an illegally connected consumer; Do not modify or cut the seal on your meter for any reason; Make a connection request if you don't have one; Remain aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious activity to your service provider; Respect the electrical installations of your service provider (poles, transformers, power lines, etc.); Advise your neighbors about the risks and consequences of fraud and theft of electricity.
